DANIEL ARAUJO—a little “bio” about Daniel…
Daniel was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and is the youngest of four children—having an older brother and two sisters. Currently his mother and father are living in Uruguay, while his two sisters live in Gaston and Union County’s, and his older brother lives in Spain.
Daniel’s wife Grisel Fernandez, was born in Lima Peru, and presently works as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch.
Daniel and Grisel have been married for 6 years and presently have two children--a daughter Carolina Sofia, 4 years old, and a son Bruno Alejandro, 11 months. They reside in the South Charlotte area at this time.
Daniel began his career as a Soccer player when he was a child in Montevideo. At the age of 19 Daniel played in his first professional game and over the course of several years he played on several South American teams, including Central Espanol (Uruguay), Sportivo Italiano (Uruguay), Deportivo Cali (Colombia), and Deportivo Pasto (Colombia). The final Team that Daniel played for was the Connecticut Wolves, which is where his Professional Soccer playing career came to an end. This last stop in his Soccer playing career was also where Daniel learned to speak “English” so well, as he worked on building the skills necessary for his life after Professional Soccer.
At the end of his playing days back in 2000, Daniel began immediately working on building the framework for his second professional career--Player development, through a “Soccer Training” program. In 2000, Daniel opened his first Soccer school in the New York area, and over the next several years trained many Player’s individually, and also coached many Club Teams and Schools in the New York and New Jersey area.
In 2005, Daniel applied for and was appointed to be the Head coach of Monroe’s U23 pro team Atlante-IasoUsa, and last year was appointed be a “Director” with John Pietak’s Creative Player Inc. organization, here in Charlotte, NC.
For those of you that have not yet had the pleasure to meet Daniel or see him run a training session, one can only say that Daniel is very passionate about Soccer…and more specifically about Player development. Daniel simply loves to be “between the lines”---as he would say, and though he wants Player’s to enjoy Soccer, he also expects them to realize that there are no short-cut’s to becoming a skilled Soccer player…Player’s must be willing to “train” hard to be adequately prepare for match play.
Daniel’s Soccer Coach/Training credentials include the following—including a number of courses which he has taken during his career:
*Course in Sports Psychology for children
*Certified & Licensed Soccer Coach By the NSCAA
*Course in Technical and Tactical aspects of Soccer, given by the FC Malaga Professional Soccer Team in Malaga, Spain
Daniel will officially begin his new position with FC Carolina Alliance on May 1, 2007.
